Every single day that passes-by, fresh new talent rises in the entertainment industry of Kenya and the latest one that has caught our attention is the new Kenyan wave that is taking over GengeTone.
I like how the new Kenyan artists are taking the Kenyan music to a whole new level with the gengetone style. In my own words, I would say Gengetone has managed to kick out the bongo acts from Kenya and thats a great step.
The pace at which the Kenyan music generation is heading to I know it’s something great the likes of Ethic, Ochungulo Family, Boondocks Gang, Sailors, Joefes, Zero Sufuri and many more.
Ethic, comprising Rekles, Swat, Zilla, and Seska the group surged onto the spotlight with the insanely famous hit song “Lamba Lolo” in mid-2018. This was followed closely by the release of “Position” featuring The Kansoul, and “Saba”

What can you say about this wave? Some people accused them of lacking content, of infecting the youth with evil thoughts as a result of their suggestive lyrics and their videos but I would say is these boys have created a whole new genre of Kenyan music.
Honestly, I love this new wave because it has proved that yes we can bring out something and take our music industry to a whole new level. Each and every day the gengetone music is all over playing and kicking out foreign music from our ears.
I guess that’s my thought on the new wave in Kenya. What can you say about this wave? Drop your comments on the comment sections below.
