An Exclusive Interview with Wavy Gang one of the multi-talented hip hop duo from Diani composed of Heartguy And Delavin.

Every single day that passes-by, fresh new talent rises in the entertainment industry of Kenya, especially from the coast region and the latest one that has caught our attention, is Wavy Gang a multi-talented hip hop duo composed of Heartguy And Delavin. The duo came up in 2018.
The multi-talented duo have a unique style of fusing English and Swahili and that brings out the catchy side of them. Working with an amazing producer the duo brings out the best in them.
Heartguy And Delavinare gearing up for their new song set to be released on 8th September 2019. With many experiences in their back pocket, the duo is ready to hit the airwaves.
We did a Q&A with Wavy Gang and they shared their music journey
Q. Kindly introduce yourself, who is Wavy Gang?
Answer: Wavy Gang Is A Kenyan Hip Hop Group From The Coast, Diani To Be Specific, Formed By Heartguy And Delavin In December 2018, By Which The Two Were Completely Different Artistes On Their Own.
Q. How did you come up with your stage name?
Answer: Well, Coming Up With A Name took us Some time because We had list that None could Fit but eventually The Name WAVY Stuck Since It Was One Of The Hashtags We Used On IG, First It Was WAVY GANG REPUBLIK Then WAVY GANG FEDERATION But ITs Now WAVY GANG KE, We Choose To Rock With The Last Since Its Short And Makes More Sense.
Q. Give us a background on your music career journey?
Answer: Pretty Tough Actually, as we said, we were totally different artistes who shared a mutual friend, I heartguy had already quit, I was laying low before Delavin came up,that time we only did whack collabos from downloaded low-quality beats, later after days of practice we had to upgrade us so drug beats Africa had us work on our first quality project that was the rise of the wavy gang. it’s tough being a rapper in Diani,everyone is, so is the competition tough.

Question: Describe your sound?
Answer: We Are More Of A Trap Family But At Times We Really Feel These Afro Beats And Choose To Work On Them, We Love The Trap life But Musically We Want To Be Unpredictable.
Question: What was the inspiration behind Wavy Gang?
Answer: the hood of course.
Question: How do you market yourself?
current we market ourselves on big platforms, nowadays the internet is like a major platform, I think it works way better if you only get the best quality content and the proper strategy then you can beat the odds but then any slight misuse in the process you lose all.
Question: The industry is full of cut-throat competition. What is unique about you that sets you apart from the rest?
Answer: wavy is just wavy,that's all we can say,
Question: What challenges have you encountered as an artist in the music industry? How have you been able to overcome those challenges?
Answer: most of all challenges is the money part, time, studios or even producers and a couple of differences, the money part we choose to divide the total cost amongst ourselves, the producer and studio part still a big mess but I think at the moment we found a suitable place we can record our tracks, we are also trying to work on this connection stuff, they say you can't make it without the connections.

Question: In your opinion, who is the most influential and successful artiste in your genre today and why?
Answer: Countrywise We Would Choose Khaligraph, I Think He Really Deserves All The Respect, He Is Dope, And More Of Focused In The Industry And For Real, His A Game Is On Point, The Kind Of Energy We Need Out Here.
Question: Do you make your own beats and write your own lyrics? If you don’t do any of this by yourself, how do you get this done?
Answer: We Do Write Our Own Lyrics, None Of The Songs We Have done Was Written Outside Wavy, As For Our Beats We Have Been Working With DRUG BEATS AFRICA.We Chose His Taste Plus He Knows Our Style Way Better.
Question: If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers to move your game to the top, with whom would you work with?
Answer: My Guy Delavin Chooses To Work With The OG Himself, I Can work With That, But Outside Kenya Id Choose To Work With The Likes Of Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, The Boy A Reece, As For The Producers I’m Still Thinking About It.
Question: Which latest songs, videos, or mixtape releases are currently available to your fans and where can they be heard or downloaded?
Answer: Our Latest Jam FACTS Is Dropping Later In The Week, Currently Not On Youtube But Its On Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, KKBox, Tik Tok,iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Tidal, Shazam And Other Music Sites, That’s Where You Can Find All Our Tracks.

Question: Are you under a record label or an independent artist?
Answer: Wavy Gang Is Independent, No Record Labels Yet.

Question: Is going platinum or winning a Grammy important to you, and if you were forced to make only one choice, which of the two would you choose and why?
Answer: Winning A Grammy, The Love Of Seeing Your Efforts Getting Rewarded Is Way Too Awesome.
Question: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Answer: In 5 Years Time Probably Working On The THIRD WORLD MUSIC Project As Wavy Gang, This Includes The Fight To Promote And Support New Talents And Underground Voices That Have Not Been Recognised Before.
Question: What in your opinion is the biggest barrier an artist like yourself, has to face and overcome to gain any commercial success?
Answer: connections, no one is ever ready to support, nothing comes for free and on the other hand, these people are way too choosy.
Question: Any advice to aspiring young artists?
Answer: Growth Takes Time, Not Every Dream Chaser Is An Achiever But Dreams Are Valid.
Question: In closing, tell us something about any projects and ideas you have in store or are already working on?
Answer: Well As Wavy We Are Planning On Dropping An Album That Will Portray The Wavy Kind Of Lifestyle And Describe Us Musically. It Will Contain Some Collabos And We As Wavy Shall Even Work On Tracks Individually, I Bet You Gonna Love It.
